This Friday’s song is Worry B Gone by Chris Stapleton from his 2020 album Starting Over. I selected the title track from this album as a Friday song back in February. This performance is a recent appearance by Stapleton on Late Night with Seth Myers.
Worry B Gone is a shuffling, blues-influenced song written by Guy Clark, Gary Nicholson, and Lee Roy Parnell. Stapleton handles both lead vocals and guitar with instrumental accompaniment by pedal steel, bass, and drums. As usual, his wife Morgane chimes in on background vocals.
The core message is reflective of many people’s reactions to all the turmoil in the world. A “puff” won’t be my personal solution, but hugs from my wife and son certainly will.
Hope you enjoy Worry B Gone by Chris Stapleton.
Everywhere I look, trouble is all I see
Can’t listen to the radio and I hate tv
There’s trouble with the air
Trouble with the water
People ain’t treatin’ one another like they outta
Give me just one more puff of that worry b gone
Songwriters: Gary Nicholson / Guy Charles Clark / Lee Roy Parnell
