The Man from U.N.C.L.E. — Wicked Cool

David McCallum‘s passing brought back memories of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. This was one of my favorite shows growing up. It ran from 1964 to 1968. I remember having Man from U.N.C.L.E. toys that my friends and I would use when we pretended to be secret agents battling the forces of evil.

The series centered on a two-man team working for multi-national secret intelligence agency U.N.C.L.E. which stood for United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. It featured Robert Vaugh as American Napoleon Solo and McCallum as Russian Illya Kuryakin. Leo G. Carroll played Alexander Waverly, the British chief of the organization. One of the things the show was famous for was having famous guest stars. This included  Joan Crawford, Angela Lansbury, Janet Leigh, Jack Palance, Vincent Price, Julie London, Telly Savalas, Eleanor Parker, and Cesar Romero.

When I was looking for an outtake from the show to share here, I found this one that features William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy before they were cast together in Star Trek. It also features Werner Klemperer who later played Colonel Wilhelm Klink on the CBS television sitcom Hogan’s Heroes.

What do you think? I think it is “wicked cool.”
