This Friday’s song is “The Kind of Love We Make” by Luke Combs. This new song was released today. It will be on his new album album, Growin’ Up which will be out June 24, 2022. Colms has been known for very rowdy rock songs like “When It Rains, It Pours” and sensitive ballads like Even Though I’m Leaving and Forever After All (both of those have been Friday songs here). This one is more soulful and reflects his maturing style as a performer.
Teresa and I really got hooked on Combs after we first heard “When It Rains It Pours” in 2017. We seem to add a song from his discography to our Alexa playlists every few months. If you haven’t listened to him, it’s worth exploring a bit. Since it is Father’s Day weekend, I would recommend having a listen to Even Though I’m Leaving. It speaks to what a father’s love really is and how important that truly is.
I picked “The KInd of Love We Make” this week especially for my wife Teresa. My focus and priorities have gotten a bit backward lately trying to resolve some challenges. It’s made me more short tempered than even I can tend to be. While Teresa is always understanding and supportive, she deserves much better from me. So, my darling Teresa, here is what I have to say…
We’ve been burnin’ both ends
Keepin’ the lights on
Cuz I’ve been thinkin’ we need
A little time alone
Whatcha say we cancel our plans
Tonight I’m only gonna be your man
