This Friday’s Song — The First Noel

The First Noel performed by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square is this Friday’s song. I selected two versions. The first is a classic choir performance from 2012 that has always been a personal favorite of mine. The gentle, almost perfect intonation of the choir truly touches your heart. The second is a 2018 arrangement by Mark Wilberg, the music director of the choir, that I also really enjoy. I hope you enjoy one or both of them as well.

From our family to yours, we wish you a very merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous new year. In the midst of all the turmoil and angst so prevalent today, please take some time to remember why we celebrate the first Noel and, like Charles Dickens’ Scrooge, let each of us always “keep Christmas well.”

“And it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us!’’

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
