Stayed on track with my 2021 goal of reading at least 36 books (3 a month) by finishing #18 this week. It was The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordon. This is the third book in the Wheel of Time series. I never read them as they were being released, but read the prequel, New Spring, on Kindle Unlimited a while back and decided to add the series to my Want to Read list.
Like all of Jordon’s books, this one is “long”. I had some doubts about reading it now because I wasn’t sure I would be able to finish it in June to meet my reading goal. Took some downtime this past weekend, sat on the back porch, and got through the story. This one was different. Very little was told through Rand’s POV even though everything revolved around him. The ending was very fast-paced for Jordon with lots of action. It did feel like he cut some corners.
Plan to keep going with the series for now. Will be interesting to see if I get through all fourteen books.
The Dragon Reborn
Winter has stopped the war—almost—yet men are dying, calling out for the Dragon. But where is he?
Rand al’Thor has been proclaimed the Dragon Reborn. Traveling to the great fortress known as the Stone of Tear, he plans to find the sword Callandor, which can only be wielded by the Champion of Light, and discover if he truly is destined to battle The Dark One. Following Rand, Moiraine and their friends battle Darkhounds on the hunt, hoping they reach the Heart of the Stone in time for the next great test awaiting the Dragon Reborn.
