This Friday’s song is “Summer Breeze” by Seals and Crofts. This is one of my favorites, but I am not really sure why I picked this particular song this week. It may be because it’s the middle of June and a warm summer breeze is blowing across our back porch. Perhaps, the breeze is just making me feel nostalgic.
“Summer Breeze” was released in August 1972. I graduated from St. John’s Prep that May and was preparing to start my freshman year at C.W.Post College on Long Island in September. I had met my first real love in May and we were trying to have as much time together as possible before I had to leave. I remember first hearing this song with her driving in my car. It almost made the dream of a life together seem real. I definitely didn’t want to leave or that summer to end.
Hope you enjoy “Summer Breeze” by Seals and Croft.
