Reflections on a Sunday morning walk

Teresa and I started walking on weekend mornings again. We had really gotten into the habit of this when we lived in the Gables, but have never seemed to be able to make it a habit again since we move to Tallahassee a few years ago. As part of our focus on improving our diets, losing some weight, and improving our overall health this summer, we started up again back in July.

Sometimes we just walk the neighborhood to get ideas for the garden. Sometimes we walk a part of the Southwood Golf Club course. Southwood also has some great nature trails. We walked one Sunday morning. The weather is starting to moderate with temps in the low 70s. It was really comfortable. We saw some deer and a beautiful blue heron. We walked about three miles and came back very relaxed.

It is very easy to get caught up in everything going on in life and not take the time to relax and appreciate the beauty in the world. I am really guilty of this. The dueling “todo” lists each has over 100 entries right now. This is a reminder to take the time. Despite it all, it is a beautiful world.
