Perspectives on Veterans Day

Today is a national holiday in the United States. Veterans Day is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of military veterans. The date holds the historical weight of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918, marking the cessation of World War I hostilities. Originally termed Armistice Day, the name was altered to Veterans Day in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

We too often forget that the things that bind us together are much greater than the things that pull us apart. Take some time today to express gratitude to those who have safeguarded your freedom and acknowledge the substantial sacrifices millions of veterans have made.
