Mandolin Rain — This Friday’s Song

This Friday’s song is “Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby and the Range. This song was on their debut album which was released in late 1986. The single was released in 1987. Hornsby is better known for the first single and title track from the album “The Way It Is” which I also included in this post.

Hornsby worked with a number of other musicians during the period including The Grateful Dead, Don Henley, Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, and Steve Nicks. His piano performances on songs like “The End of Innocence” were very memorable.

In 1986 and 1987, I was living in Plano, Texas which is about 20 miles north of Dallas. I was helping to build a new software business at Texas Instruments. I have some great memories of the experiences and friendships from that time that songs like “Mandolin Rain” bring roaring back.

Hope you enjoy this Friday’s song. You can listen to others here.
