Visited Growler Country for an impromptu date night on Saturday. Teresa had seen a post about this local craft beer pub on the Tallahassee Foodies Facebook group recently. It looked interesting so we added it to our “Try It” list.
Growler’s tagline is “A Craft Beer Filling Station and Eatery.” It is located in a small strip mall at 3305 Capital Circle NE. That’s on the northbound side across from Home Depot. The room is laid back and comfortable. They also have seating outside.
The experience is built around the craft beers. They have a row of 32 taps and will give you small tastings to help you make your choice. We decided on an American lager called “The Eagle Has Landed” from Tripping Animals Brewing which is located in Doral, FL. It was crisp and refreshing.
You order your food at the counter and they give you a numbered stand to put on your table. The food menu features classic appetizers that are great for sharing. These include Black and Blue chips, nachos, and cheese fries. We chose the Bavarian Soft Pretzel. This is massive and baked and salted to perfection. It is served with beer cheese and spicy mustard. I have loved soft pretzels since I was a kid. You can probably see that has not changed.

The rest of the menu is classic pub food. They feature a Cuban sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich. They also serve dogs, Mac and cheese, and a wedge salad. They have several kinds of tacos. We tried the Mojo Tacos. These have slow roasted Mojo Pork shredded and piled high in three 6″ tortillas with house made purple coleslaw, mozzarella cheese, fresh jalapeno, cilantro, and a chipotle mayo drizzle. You get chips on the side. You can add salsa and queso for $2. These were very good and definitely pack some heat. They could have a little more pork, but we really enjoyed them anyway.

All in all, a “hidden gem” here in Tallahassee that I expect we will visit again to explore the menu more. It would be great to have someplace that did a great Cuban sandwich when we were in the mood. Would be even better if they opened a store in Merchant’s Row here in Southwood!
