I Knew I loved You by Savage Garden

I Knew I Loved You — This Friday’s Song

This Friday’s Song is I Knew I Loved You by Savage Garden. It is for my wife Teresa who is celebrating her birthday today. This romantic ballad was originally released in September 1999. I had added it along with the band’s first hit, Truly, Madly, Deeply, to my iPad music collection at some point much later.

Teresa and I were driving someplace and I had the player set to randomize songs in my collection. Teresa told me it was one of her favorites when this song played. As we listened, I realized, even though we had known each other a short time, that this song expressed exactly what I was feeling… I had finally found my way home.

Thank you, sweetheart. This song says how I feel better than I ever could. Happy birthday. Thank you for saying yes!

There’s just no rhyme or reason

Only the sense of completion

And in your eyes I see the missing pieces I’m searching for

I think I’ve found my way home

I know that it might sound

More than a little crazy but I believe

I knew I loved you before I met you

I think I dreamed you into life

I knew I loved you before I met you

I have been waiting all my life
