Just finished High Force by LJ Ross. This is the fifth book in Ross’s DCI Ryan Mystery series. The plot in this one is fairly intense since one of the main characters has been taken by a serial killer and the pace is fast. Here is the blurb…
Detective Chief Inspector Ryan’s worst nightmare has just become a reality. Notorious serial killer Keir Edwards, know as the Hacker, has escaped prison and kidnapped one of his best detectives from her own home. His brutality is the stuff of legend – Ryan lost his sister and nearly his own life bringing the man to justice first time around. Can Ryan do it again to save his friend?
Like Ross’s earlier works, this story is grounded in its Northumberland setting. This time it features the High Force waterfall in the Durham Dales. This stunning waterfall in the River Tees is a 21 meter drop. I included a short video from the This is Durham site below. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one that include dteh sound from the falls, but it is a stunning landscape.
As always, not the “deepest” fiction, but and enjoyable read for those that like the genre.
