Just wrapped up Heavenfield by LJ Ross. This is the third book in Ross’s DCI Ryan mystery series. I started on the series when someone recommended earlier this year reading the first book in the series, Holy Island because they knew my wife and I had really gotten into British detective shows on Britbox.
The series is set in Northumberland in northeast England. This is the home of Hadrian’s Wall. Holy Island is set on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne which is a few miles off the coast and where the causeway out actually gets cut off by the tides twice a day.
The books are entertaining reads with reasonable plot lines and good character development. Ryan and his team work the evidence to solve the case. There are no magic “Sherlock” moments.
