Sharing great meals both at home and out and about

First Visit to Brother Fox Pensacola

We wrapped up this quick trip to Pensacola with a first visit to Brother Fox. Chef Darian Hernandez specializes in wood-fired Spanish-influenced dishes that blend traditional and contemporary elements. We had a fabulous carne asada that we enjoyed.
Angelena's Pensacola

Angelena’s Ristorante Italiano Pensacola

Had a great meal at Angelena's Pensacola. We had fried green tomatoes, a crawfish tortellini, and tiramisu. Just a fabulous and relaxed experience that we really enjoyed.
John and Teresa visiting the Union Public House in Pensacola

Union Public House Revisited

Teresa and I revisited one of our Pensacola favorites, the Union Public House. We discovered it during our first trip to Pensacola in 2019. The food is Southern home-style with a contemporary twist. We had another great meal and recommend it.
Charlie Park Tallahassee

April Date Night at Charlie Park

We went to Charlie Park Tallahassee for our "date night" on Saturday. This rooftop restaurant has been on our list to visit for quite a while. While the view and weather made for a pleasant night, we have to give it a "neutral" rating at best. It is definitely better for a group night out than a romantic experience for two.
Pensacola Florida

Visiting Pensacola

Teresa had to teach a class out in Pensacola this past week, so I offered to be the designated driver. We hadn't travelled since Labor Day, so we were both looking forward to the trip. We had a couple of great meals and some time together.
Ground Ops Roastery and Bakehouse Tallahassee

Ground Ops for Sunday sweets!

One of our favorite new places in Tallahassee is Ground Ops Roastery and Bakehouse. This new coffeehouse and bakery is located at the Intersection of Monroe and Thomasville Rd. Definitely worth swinging by for a coffee and pastry if you haven't tried them yet.
Chef's Dinner at Mimi's Table

September Chef’s Dinner at Mimi’s Table

Teresa and I decided to do the Chef's Dinner at Mimi's Table for our September date night. There is a fixed menu with wine pairings selected by Chef William Lawson for each course. We had never done one of these before. It was a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
Salt Ritz Carlton Amelia Island

Salt at the Amelia Island Ritz Carlton

We had dinner at Salt at the Ritz Carlton on our recent trip to Amelia Island. I wanted something special to cap off our trip. I had seen some great reviews. It really lived up to its "billing." We had a delicious meal in this fabulous setting.
Paella Marinera

España Restaurant & Tapas

I picked España Restaurant & Tapas for our first dinner on Amelia Island. We had some tapas and a seafood paella. It was interesting, but the paella came up short.
Cafe Karibo Amelia Island

Cafe Karibo Fernandina Beach

We arrived on Amelia Island too early to check in, so we decided to grab some lunch and explore. Cafe Karibo received lots of great reviews, so we decided to try it.
Checking Out Sliders

Checking Out Sliders

We decided to check out Sliders: A Sandwich Revolution on Thursday night. It is one of the new places that recently opened in Tallahassee. We decided to share two sliders and some fries. We enjoyed it and will probably head back to try out some of the other interesting sliders on the menu.

July Date Night at Savour

We revisited Drew and Kim McCloud's Savour, one of our favorite Tallahassee dinner spots, for our July date night. We tried a bunch of their new dishes. We want to thank Drew and Kim, the chef, Jordon, and the rest of the Savour staff for another fabulous meal. It was a relaxed and memorable evening out. We were definitely "happy together" for our July date night.
