One of our favorite new places in Tallahassee is Ground Ops Roastery and Bakehouse. This new coffeehouse and bakery is located at the Intersection of Monroe and Thomasville Rd. Definitely worth swinging by for a coffee and pastry if you haven't tried them yet.
Teresa and I decided to do the Chef's Dinner at Mimi's Table for our September date night. There is a fixed menu with wine pairings selected by Chef William Lawson for each course. We had never done one of these before. It was a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
We had dinner at Salt at the Ritz Carlton on our recent trip to Amelia Island. I wanted something special to cap off our trip. I had seen some great reviews. It really lived up to its "billing." We had a delicious meal in this fabulous setting.
I picked España Restaurant & Tapas for our first dinner on Amelia Island. We had some tapas and a seafood paella. It was interesting, but the paella came up short.
We arrived on Amelia Island too early to check in, so we decided to grab some lunch and explore. Cafe Karibo received lots of great reviews, so we decided to try it.
We decided to check out Sliders: A Sandwich Revolution on Thursday night. It is one of the new places that recently opened in Tallahassee. We decided to share two sliders and some fries. We enjoyed it and will probably head back to try out some of the other interesting sliders on the menu.
We revisited Drew and Kim McCloud's Savour, one of our favorite Tallahassee dinner spots, for our July date night. We tried a bunch of their new dishes. We want to thank Drew and Kim, the chef, Jordon, and the rest of the Savour staff for another fabulous meal. It was a relaxed and memorable evening out. We were definitely "happy together" for our July date night.
Teresa and I made a return visit to Lucilla Tallahassee for our May "date night." We were actually supposed to go a few weeks ago for Mother's Day, but I was fighting a nasty sinus infection that weekend. Joseph Richardson graciously rescheduled our reservation for us. We had a great meal and a very relaxed "date night."
We enjoyed a wonderful evening out last night at Savour Tallahassee. This was our monthly "date night" and an early New Year's Eve celebration. We want to thank our server Sam, the chef, owners Drew and Kim McLeod, and the entire staff at Savour for preparing such a great meal. It was a very romantic, satisfying , and relaxing way to wrap up the year.
One more food "share" for the holiday. My wife Teresa used the leftover "mojo pork" "from our Christmas Eve dinner to make me one of our holiday traditions, a sándwich cubano. I am one very lucky man.
We are celebrating our fifth Christmas in Tallahassee this year. This year, I must have been an especially good boy because "Santa" made me a mincemeat pie. From our family to yours, we wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year!
It got pretty chilly here in Tallahassee this week. We decided that we wanted to have something "warm and hearty" for our November date night. We visited Lucillia for the first time back in August. We had a great meal and there were a lot of other dishes on the menu that caught our interest. Their big flavors and creative "comfort food" seemed like the perfect match for what we wanted.
