I was still in an 80’s mood when I selected this Friday’s song. It is “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears. It was released on in March 1985. It is a great example of synth-pop and focuses on the desire humans have for control and power. When this song was released in 1984, many people were reflecting on the warnings of Orwell’s 1984. This is probably even more relevant today.
1884 and 1985 were heady times for those of us in tech. The first Macintosh, the first Intel 386 chip, and the first version of Microsoft Windows were all released. I had a mentor who once told me that “all money is made during a platform shift”. This was one of the times.
Hope you enjoy “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears.
