Checking Out “The Neighborhood” — Wicked Cool

This week’s Wicked Cool find is a couple of videos of “The Neighborhood” shot from the Artemis 1 Orion spacecraft.

The first one is an “Earthrise” taken shortly after the spacecraft completed its “outbound powered flyby” of the moon on Nov. 21, 2022.

The second is one is a time-lapse loop which shows the Earth-Moon transit. Thps was created by Steve Spaleta (https://twitter.com/stevespaleta) from images shot on November, 28, 2022, the 13th day of the Artemis 1 mission.

The spacecraft will return to Earth on Sunday December 11, 2022. Wishing the entire extended team at NASA good luck to bring the mission to a successful close tomorrow.

Take a minute to remember all the steps we have taken on this amazing journey to the moon and beyond since President John F. Kennedy helped us all take the first steps in 1962.

As someone whose childhood dream was to be a NASA astronaut, all I can say is that this is “wicked cool!”
