August Gardening in Tallahassee

Not that many plants bloom in August in Tallahassee, but the wet summer has helped strengthen the lawn and kept it a deep shade of green.

One of the great things about Tallahassee is that there is almost always something flowing in the garden. We don’t really have anything that blooms in our garden during August. The purple blossoms on the Lilyturf (Liorope muscari) we have in several beds do extend well into August and the early fall. We also have had a “wet” summer, so our lawn has really filled in and stayed a deep green with almost no irrigation.
