Just finished Angel by LJ Ross. This is Book 4 in Ross’s DCI Ryan Series. Like the previous books in the series, murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humor set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape. Not for everyone, but an enjoyable read.
This one is set about seven months after the end of Book 3. Ross keeps this one moving and continues the development of the main characters. I would recommend reading the first three books (along with the prequel The Infirmary) together. This one could be read more stand-alone, but it helps to have the background and know the main characters from the first four books.
As with her previous books, Ross does a great job putting you into the setting in Northumberland. This includes the title inspiration, the Angel of the North, a contemporary sculpture, designed by Antony Gormley, located in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. Here is an interview the author did about this book in 2016 after its release.
As you may know, we work with authors and publishers at my company Outcome Labs. We study the approaches and models that produce great outcomes. Ross is a great example of an author who “got” what the Kindle platform could do to build a platform and a successful business.
